Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Loveland, OH
Here to Answer Your Questions
It is not uncommon for Dr. Lakhani and our dental team to receive numerous questions about dentistry each day. Because we value dental patient education and want each person to feel more confident about their decision to pursue better oral health, we’ve compiled the answers to some of the most common questions asked by our dentistry patients. You’re free to contact us if you have any questions.
How often do I need to see a dentist?
It is recommended that you visit your dentist every six months for a dental checkup and cleaning. Not only does Dr. Lakhani suggest this timeframe but so does the American Dental Association. This is necessary to minimize the risk of serious infection or damage caused by day-to-day wear and tear. By catching symptoms of decay, disease, and other oral health problems, we can quickly address the issue and keep your smile on the right track.
Can you treat my children?
Yes! We love treating young smiles, which is why we encourage you to bring your entire family to see us. We offer valuable preventive services to help little ones maintain healthier teeth and gums year after year. Because their smiles are often prone to cavities, we can suggest fluoride treatments and/or dental sealants to better protect against decay.
What counts as a dental emergency?
There are many different types of dental emergencies, but you may not know when to seek professional help. If you’re bleeding excessively, experiencing increased swelling, or suffering from a broken or fractured jaw, you need to get to a local ER. However, if you feel any mouth pain whatsoever, it is in your best interest to call our dental office to schedule a dentist’s appointment.
Chipped or broken teeth, knocked-out teeth, soft tissue lacerations, lost dental restorations, and even severe toothaches and sensitive teeth are all considered dental emergencies.
If my teeth are crooked, which method is best for straightening them?
Traditional braces are always an option, but if you’re like most people, you want to avoid metal brackets and wires. This is why we offer Invisalign clear aligners. Designed to blend in with your existing smile, these trays are custom-fit to your smile, putting you one step closer to achieving straighter teeth with each set. While wearing Invisalign, you’ll discover they are virtually transparent and will not compromise your daily appearance.
Will I need a referral for dental implants?
No, when it comes to dental implant placement, we are pleased to inform you that we perform the entire start-to-finish procedure in-house. This keeps you from having to visit another outside specialist to receive your dental implants. Not only is this an enticing factor for patients suffering from tooth loss, but it allows us to monitor the status of your smile from beginning to end.
How will cosmetic dentistry improve my life?
Cosmetic dentistry enhances your aesthetics, but it also improves your oral health and self-esteem. Because your teeth are whiter, straighter, and appear flawless, you’ll be more apt to take better care of your smile while also making an impression with your family, friends, and colleagues.
Will you accept my dental insurance?
Yes! We happily welcome all PPO dental insurance plans and are committed to pre-negotiating fees and services with various insurance carriers. Because you have the option to choose any dentist within your network, we welcome your business and will go further to help you save each time you visit.
